Amanda's two books, 'Purple Hibiscus' and 'Half a Yellow Sun' are good, but both books are filled with overworked cliches of 'male chauvinism' a rather condescending look on the lower class. One need just read a few pages to see gender tension and class consciousness running the works. Again, her language sounds too pretentious. Perhaps it's part of her effort to elevate the Igbo Language. But then, she should be aware of the non-Igbo speaking members of her audience and include a glossary of Igbo terms in the subsequent editions. It insults the sensibility of a reader to see a work (ostensibly written in English) having about one-third of its words coming from an obscure language with no overt explanations. The Kenyan writer, Ngugi, tried it in his works, using his native Swahili but such an era has gone. Modern readers expect something more creative, objective and Universal.Amanda is rather getting too obessed with the 'Biafran War'issue. It's about time readers got something new from her pen.I know she can do better than what she has done already because she possesses the genius. Meanwhile, she's my idol. I love her sense of humour. Cheers!

Both books of Chimamanda Adichie are excellent mixing history with fiction. I cannot wait for a third title - highly recommended to everyone.
