Elizabeth George Message Board

Han van Engelen posts on 3/31/2012 8:54:08 AM In the Netherlands bookcovers from Elizabeth George shows three times a clothed woman in the water. The dutch titels are: "En duister vermoeden", "In handen van de vijand" en "Verrader van het verleden". Can somebody tell me why these pictures are chosen? Is there a link with this theme?

Karen posts on 11/25/2011 6:19:27 PM I have so only ready two of Ms George's books and those I read out of order. I just finished "What Came Before He Shot Her". I thought it was so well written. I haven't read any of the Detective Lynley books except "Careless in Red" so I wasn't overly upset about his wife being killed. I do wish that Ms. George would write a sequel to "What Came . . . " with Detective Lynley uncovering the fact that Joel never did the actual shooting. I can't let Joel waste away locked up. Isn't right!
Judy Kostezky posts on 9/2/2011 4:00:49 AM Why did the actress playing Helen Lynley up and leave? I have been a long time reader of Elizabeth george's crime book and certainly Sharon Small is far too good looking for the Barbara Havers from the books. Helen on the other hand was played by s far less delicate looking actress. Did George have no say in choosing the cast? Very very disappointed.
KWR posts on 6/26/2011 7:31:13 PM Just want to say that after reading each of Elizabeth Georges novels in order up to With No One as Witness, I have quit half way through that one and boxed up the entire set for resale. I love the way she writes but one of the things that kept me coming back was the relationship between Inspector Linley and Helen, his wife. I am severely disappointed with the writers apparent desire to shock readers by offing Helen. I'm done.

Irene Lennox posts on 3/25/2010 4:31:58 PM I have read most of the Lynley mysteries and I too wonder about his brother in law's murder. I am also wondering if Tommie ever knew that Deborah aborted his child and that this is the reason she seems to be unable to carry Simon's child. Does anyone know whether or not he knows or suspects?
Mike posts on 4/10/2009 12:36:42 PM Found it. I sort of remember at least another reference to Yorkshire in other books. I did catch a reference to Deborah St. James recovering from being injured by someone. I take this as a reference to "A Place of Hiding" written in 2003. Simon and Deborah go off to solve a murder involving Deborah's roommate from California. (When Simon was recovering from the Car Crash) Again no book but part of the development of the characters that Elizabeth George does so well. I'm still wondering about Webberley's replacement. If it's who I think it is, Havers is in for a rough ride.
Sandy joy posts on 4/9/2009 3:27:45 PM Toward the end of the book, when the embedded reporter is doing his profile on Lynley, he makes a reference to Simon St. James about what they will find out about him in Yorkshire, about his brother-in-law's murder. It's just before the profile on Lynley is published in the paper.
