Kin Platt Message Board

Chris Platt posts on 8/7/2015 7:01:06 AM Hi to Melissa and Robert. Sorry, I just now saw your posts on this page. As I hope you have figured out by the backandforths here, Sinbad is currently available wherever books are sold, as well as through the usual online booksellers. It is selling in all three formats, hardcover, paperback and eBook, with wonderful new cover art by Leonard Fisher. I hope you buy copies for yourselves and for anyone you think may enjoy the book. Thanks for checking in.
Melissa posts on 7/15/2014 4:32:26 PM I would love ALL the Steve and Sinbad books, in hardcover, ebook, whatever format i can get. I have very well-loved paperbacks that are falling apart.
Robert posts on 7/3/2014 7:57:39 AM I also would love a hardcover copy of Sinbad and Me. I had a ex library paper copy of the book that never had a cover, but even that has finally died on me.

Matt Fleagle posts on 7/3/2014 7:43:14 AM I would be interested in buying a hard cover copy (maybe two) of Sinbad and Me.
Kathy posts on 7/2/2014 6:27:25 AM I would love hard back copies of all the Steve Forrester books. The only one I have read was Sinbad and Me, until my copy fell apart, literally. I recently gave in and bought a used paper back for a tidy sum, but I know that one might fall apart too. If there was a chance to get a hard back edition with out wiping out my retirement fund, I would definitely buy it!
Kevin posts on 7/1/2014 10:48:24 PM Thanks Chris for your reply. No, I haven't ever gotten to read Sinbad and Me. I checked the libraries (no luck) and the only copies I found online were $100+. I hope to read it someday. I love beginning the school year by reading The Blue Man to my students. For some it is the first great novel they have ever heard. Your dad really knew how to write a book.
Chris Platt posts on 7/1/2014 8:45:13 PM Hi Kevin, No, it is not YOU. The paperback published by Scholastic with a lurid cover, was an abridged edition -- lots of the full hardcover edition was omitted. And the cover art wasn't as stunning or as memorable as Leonard Fisher's original hardcover artwork, either. Did you ever read my father's Sinbad and Me?
Kevin posts on 7/1/2014 7:14:27 PM Hi, Once again my favorite book by my 5th grade students was The Blue Man. I so wish this book could be published again. I have yet to read any book this exciting in every chapter. That is say something because I read a lot of books. I wish every child could read this book--especially the 10-12 age boys. I read the Blue Man first in 1979 in junior high. I decided to read it again to see if it was as good as I remembered it. It was better. I read the hardback edition copy which I borrowed from a library from out of state. I ended up buying the paperback copy as the hardback editions listed for well over $100. Is it me or is the hardback copy better than the scholastic paperback version I bought? True, the paperback is excellent, but it seemed a cut under the hardback I had read. Your thoughts?
Chris Platt posts on 6/30/2014 8:30:59 PM Finally, some good news to report: We will be self-publishing a new edition of Sinbad and Me thru a company called Page Publishing Company. As I get more details and timing, I will post them here. But first, I need your help. We will be publishing an eBook edition and probably a paperback as well. I would like to also publish a hardcover edition, but since this is self-publishing, that is a substantial additional setup charge I do not want to lay out if there is no interest in a hardcover Sinbad. Please, please, if you DO want a hardcover edition of Sinbad and Me, post that desire here on this board. Also it would be great to go to the publishers web page and tell them directly, like a writein campaign. And also please note your preference on the Facebook pages for Kin Platt and Sinbad and Me. I really need your feedback. Thank you.
Chris Platt posts on 4/23/2014 9:22:20 PM Folks, if any of you know Steven Kimble, who posted the query below, please contact him for me and let him know I have a copy of Blue Man for him -- Free. I mentioned that here, but he does not seem to have gotten the message. Thanks.
