Marta Garay posts on 7/27/2005 10:10:33 PM Carlos Hugo Sánchez, was born in a town of Great Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1954. He is divorced and he has got two daughters. He fell in love with Literature when he was nineteen years old and was still studying engineering. At that time he had the feeling that writing would be a way of expressing himself and, also, a way of letting the others know about his melancholic perspective towards the world. He got his degree in Spanish Language, Literature and Latin at Escuela Superior Mariano Acosta, a very prestigious institution where Julio Cortázar also studied. He has not worked as a teacher for a long time. He has written more than 50 short stories and three novels. Awards (Premios y Menciones): -His short story "El Tren Detenido" (Held Up Train) won the Award Salón del libro Iberoamericano (Gijón), Concurso Internacional de Cuentos Juan Rulfo (RFI, París) (December 1999) -Award Casa de las Américas (Cuba), for his book of short stories "Consideraciones acerca del monólogo interior y otros ensayos" (Considerations about the inner monolgue and other essays)(January 2001) -He was finalist for the award Clarín de novela, Bs.As. Argentina (December 2002), with his novel Calfucurá. -His novel “Un Hombre Llamado Piedra Azul” (A Man Called Blue Stone) was awarded Short Novel Award Gabriel Sijé, accésit of the XXVII edition, Spain, (2002). This novel was Publisher by the CAM. -Award Fundación Victoria Ocampo, Buenos Aires: Second prize to his book of short stories “Sobre El Origen de las Palomas” (About the Origin of Pigeons) , April 2005 Marta Garay (Argentina)
