Ashley posts on 9/1/2005 11:11:33 AM My enriched english class had to read The Liar's Club over summer break, and I'm not gunna lie I was dreading it. But, truly I loved it, it's one of the best books I've ever read. It didn't bore me it made me intrigued and left me wanting to know more. Thanks Mary.
Carmen posts on 6/10/2005 8:39:29 PM I spoke w/one of Mary Karrs neighbors about the years the children were growing up. She said," Mary just went to school to visit. She was smarter than all the teachers." She also replied, when I asked if Charlie Marie was beautiful that, "Yes she was a beautiful woman. She looked like Mary."

SuzAnne posts on 3/9/2005 7:21:37 AM I listened to Cherry on an all night drive from Canada to Florida- Wow! The best was listening to Mary Karr narrate her own book. Favourite part: when she asks the High School principal " What makes you think I'm not wearin' a bra ?" It was a great "FU" I hope there is a book coming which follows what happens in LA after Cherry.
Tammy H posts on 3/2/2005 11:06:12 PM I recently listened to the audiobook "The Liar's Club" and am currently listening to "Cherry". You're such a wonderfully funny and talented writer and I laughed and cried all the way thru it. You tell about your rough childhood that makes me feel like I'm not alone in how bad my life was as a child. My mother cheated on my father for many years, and to this day, she has a guy living with her and my dad that she 'claims' is her cousin but he is not. I'm glad I'm married and have my own family now. I just wanted to let you know I love your work!
Linda Lonergan posts on 2/25/2005 5:42:22 PM Mary I miss you so much, will you be coming to Syracuse anytime soon? Luv, Grayce
Linda Lonergan posts on 2/25/2005 1:24:29 PM Mary , give me a call sometime. All is great on this end. Linda 315-682-5932 315-420-1959
Lindsay posts on 2/12/2005 12:07:45 AM I hope Ms. Karr checks this message board out sometime, because I want her to know how much I appreciate her writing. Geez, what a writer! I love you Mary!
Garry posts on 1/24/2005 9:27:54 PM Let me tell you that if you've read any of Mary's writings, their greatness certainly mirrors her personality. I am now a senior at Syracuse University and was a student in two of Mary's poetry classes. Not only is she a brilliant writer, poet, and professor, she is also a friend I'll have for life. I must admit going into my first class with her, I would not openly express emotion in a class setting, but after a few weeks of talking to Mary about my writing, she turned me into a writer without boundaries. Anyone who gets to meet this woman is extrememly lucky indeed.
