Jack Whyte Message Board

vladimr budney posts on 3/22/2010 8:22:01 PM i am testing this message forum. i am vladzo; i post on several chat lines, and i started to read jack whyte very recently. i am amazed at the triple trilogy, the nine books of the cumalod series. so very very much writting and so much detail, so much minute detail. i am still on the singing sword; but i have had an interest in arthurian legends since the early 1960's. more later. vlad
b fransen posts on 1/3/2010 6:47:58 PM I started reading the books about author starting with the sining blade and I would like to know the true chronilogical order of the series thanks
notimetothink posts on 10/11/2009 4:07:57 PM Publishers weekly state: 'Few authors can match Whyte when it comes to epic battle scenes involving glazing heat, chocking dust...' and so on, when writing about Standard of Honour. Clearly, they didn't read the book. Apart from a page at the front, and one at the back, there were no battle scenes. I agree with the others: so boring and a most boring ending. By the way, the Mediterranean is a non-tidal sea.

scepti posts on 9/27/2009 4:31:57 PM A promise of some action at the beginning of each chapter, but then all we get is page after page of boring 'fill out the book' character talk. Templar knights wern't really this boring, were they? Yes, Robyn Young is much, much better.
Nighted posts on 9/20/2009 3:31:23 PM The Templar knight books are, I think, just a vehicle for this author to impart his religious views and the absurdity of it all. Does he use such convoluted language to impress or to bore? More action and less of the attempted religious conversion and complicated language.
Tangled posts on 8/24/2009 5:09:40 PM I think, after reading my first novel of his: Knights of the Black and White, that he should ditch the thesaurus and have his characters speak as befits their intellect and social standing. Ever read Robyn Young's trilogy dealing with the same genre? You should - she's good, very good.
Empress Ayla posts on 5/6/2007 3:01:05 PM hey, I've just finished singing sword, it was good. If you guys ever get a chance read Boudica dreaming the eagle. As you can guess its about Boudica, and her childhood, training, battles, allies, all in all amazing! the second is dreaming the bull, then dreaming the hound, then finally the series ends with dreaming the serpentspear
posts on 7/17/2006 12:46:30 AM Hi Guys I seem to remember a website I found a long time ago which describes each character in the series. The reason im looking for it is I just picked up THE EAGLE, but its been a while since I read Colthar the frank, and the entire dream of eagle series. Im just looking for a refresher. I know all the major characters however im a few pages into it and its already made references to several characters that are unknown to me. Thanks
posts on 5/20/2006 2:01:54 PM Listened to the CBC Saturday morning program and picked up only a bit of the interview. What I gathered is that your upcoming book was widely researched and has considerable depth. I would like to know more.
