"What is the meaning of It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife"
Ah, the first sentence in 'Pride & Prejudice,' eh? I got a little confused, as well. But it means that a single man with a good fortune wants a wife, and doesn't have one yet, either. To be "in want" means to want and not have, so, basically, yeah.

i don't think it's out yet, is it? my mom isn't exactly thrilled. she loves pride and prejudice (i only read sense and sensibility myself) and she hates kiera knightley. i just think it's funny how knightley seems to worm her way into all the movies that look good to me. she's pretty, but her acting galls me at times. anywho, who ever wrote this message, "we just met Jane Austen, wow, she's amazing, shes so much prettier than in the film <3 wow, we are stil buzzing with excitment, best day of our lives *sigh* anyone else met the one and only?? bib bob & bob bib *kisses* xxxx" DID YOU KNOW THAT J.A. IS DEAD?!?

Amanda (whoever you are), you say you like the novel? Read it again, Elizabeth Bennet isn't the 'eldest of 5 girls'!
