Hi everyone! I was wondering which VH heroine you yourself are most like? I don't know, but I think I'm probably most like Suewellyn (sp?) in Mask of the Enchantress or (forgot her name) from The Road to Paradise Island. What about you?

Kathy, VH passed away in 1992 or 1993 on a ship to Port Said - exotic to the end! The last book as VH was The Black Opal published in 1994, which many people say someone else finished. The last book as PC was We'll Meet Again, set in WWII, but I don't know the year that was pubblished.

Kathy, I think the last book she wrote by VH pen name was "The Black Opal"...it wasn't one of her best. Hope this helps!

I believe I read that Victoria Holt had passed away and I would like to know the name of the last book she wrote as Victoria Holt and the last book she wrote as Philippa Carr.

Heath Ledger is perfect! Now all that's left is someone to make it into a film...

Hey those are excellent casting choices! I think Heath Ledger would be great in the part of Stirling.

Shadow Of The Lynx. My favorite book by far! I was thinking about who should star in it if it was made into a movie and I came to this conclusion: Jason Isaacs could play Lynx, Maggie Grace could play Nora, Hugh Dancy for Franklin, Emmie Rossum for Minta, and I couldn't figure out a Striling. No one seemed to match up to my idea of him. And even though the ending was rather sad, it made the book more realistic for me. I especially like it because the ending is such a twist, it almost doesn't seem like VH.

Shadow of the Lynx is about a young woman, Nora, who's at a boarding school (works there too) because her ne'r-do-well father is off in Australia trying to make his fortune. The father dies in Australia, and the father's friend, Lynx, sends his son, Stirling, to England to collect Nora(and for another reason we don't learn about until later). Nora goes to Australia with Stirling to live with Lynx and his family. The Lynx has "ties" to England, which prove fateful to everyone. The book switches back and forth between Nora's point of view and another female character's POV (can't remember her name) who's in England and whose family is linked to the powerful Lynx. Great book, great story, great characters - lousy ending.

I never read Shadow of the Lynx..what is it about?

yes i agree Shadow of The Lynx, had a sad ending. However it was less predictable that way, and one of her most well written novels. I also think "The House of a Thousand Lanterns would translate well to the screen. I like when she writes of exotic locales! Who can forget "The India Fan"? I loved the character of Lavinia in that novel.
