I am very disappointed to not find a 3rd book from Pat Harwin. She writes like a pro and keeps the reader galvanized till the end. Hopefully the British publisher will work out or perhaps Poisoned Pen here in AZ? They publish quite a few mysteries...?

I'm disappointed that we won't see a new novel for a while. I love this series and keep hoping for the next story to be published!

Faithfully, each month, I check Amazon to see if the new Patricia Harwin is being released and continued to be disappointed. I finally "googled" her, which is how I wound up on this message board. I, too, enjoy her books immensely and cannot imagine why S&S chose to drop her. Ms. Harwin, if you read this, I sincerely hope that you find a new publisher very soon. If you have some lined up, tell them to look at this website. You obviously have a dedicated following of readers. My best to you.

I just read "Arson & Old Lace" and was shocked to find it was a first novel. Well done Ms. Harwin. I am getting your second book immediately. Please don't stop writing - you are talented! I am seldom surprised at the end of a book, and quite frankly bored by so many "wanna be" mystery writers who give away the ending in the first chapter. Please don't let a poor decision on the part of your publisher stop this wonderful series!

I'm so glad Ms. Harwin is actively searching for a new publisher. I'm astounded that Simon would drop her!!! What on earth are those people thinking?? It's been years since I enjoyed a new series as much as I've enjoyed Catherine Penny's adventures. I've re-read both books several times, and am simply on pins and needles waiting to see how the new adventure hinted at at the end of Slaying Is Such Sweet Sorrow develops. Also, to see if Catherine's relationship with the nice American she met in the first novel continues. In recent years, I've decried the sloppy editing (particularly in continuity) that I've seen in even some of my favorites mysteries. But this is the first time I've heard of a publisher dropping an author this successful! What idiocy possessed these people? Ms. Harwin, please do keep trying. I'm sure those of us posting here are not the only ones waiting eagerly for your next novel. Just check Amazon.com!!

I have never read this author before either. Guess I will have to check it out. It is disappointing to know that she has only written a limited number of novels.

I just discovered Patricia Harwin's Far Wychwood mystery series this last week. I LOVE THEM, and now to find that there are no more. Please say it ain't so! I am exercised enough about this to post to a message board for the first time. What can be done about this?

Brenda posts on 11/13/2007 10:18:47 AM

I love the Far Wychwood Series and I'm so glad to have her post a message. Hopefully, the British publisher will publish her series. I'm going to let Simon & Shuster know I'm not happy with their decision to drop her. Pat, if you read this board, PLEASE keep us posted!

I'm really touched by your messages, and your concern for my welfare! I'm glad to report that I'm alive and well, the explanation for my disappearance being I was dumped by Simon & Schuster (I know, nobody can figure out why, incl my agent and editor), and other publishers won't even consider taking on a series that's already started. But we've found a small British firm that may take me on, so keep your fingers crossed. Pat Harwin
