Ten thousand sorrows floored me. What a brave person Ms Kim must be. It was a harrowing read with a happy ending, and it makes me have more faith in humanity to think that you can have such misfortune in your life and come out such a great person. x

I finished reading, "Ten Thousand Sorrows," and it was the kind of book that is hard to put down and at the same time was hard to read. All the pain and suffering she went through and coming out a survivor was a miracle. It goes to show that even if we were a victim as a child, we don't have to stay one. I admire her for sharing such a personal story...it was healing for me. Thank you Elizabeth Kim, for sharing your story.

I would like to contact Ms. Kim to thank her for telling her story. Not many people have the courage to say what she did. I admire her for that. If you know how to get in touch with her, please let me know.

i am about to read ten thousand sorrows and kind of afraid. I too was an adoptee of american parents at the age of nine. I guess it's very emotional for me. I guess now that I have children it's hard for me to read this book and feel the emotions Kim went through. we shall see

A truly wonderful book - and previous comments very interesting. I fail to understand how people can slam the book saying it is full of lies. If they have not been there, not lived that life, how can they know. I noticed no mention has been made of the abuse in adult hood from her husband. is that because people sweep that under the carpet and won't accept it happens in a civilised world. Believe me it does. But her experiences of her life in Korea everyone very willing to criticise as being false. Think again. and do not judge.
