Thank you Jan, maybe I am being morbid, but he has been around here for several months, so I doubt he has returned to his original home. We are really worried, due to the cold temperatures and him not coming for food. I can only hope that someone somewhere else has, like us, taken pity on him and are trying to help him. I hope so, he deserves a chance in life. Just wish I knew, it's not knowing that is so upsetting. Love Susan

Got my fingers crossed Susan. The only other hope is that he somehow found his way back to his original home and they've taken him to the vet. Hope the little guy is okay. Jan

We are so sad here. Ginger hasn't been seen for almost a week and enquiries have not helped us further. He appears to have disappeared into thin air. I had contacted an organization who were willing to help me catch him, take him to a vet and hold him for a few days after. The idea being to get him castrated, treated for parasites and have his eye looked at. We were also going to get the RSPCA involved and we were willing to help with the costs. But alas, no sooner were arrangements being made and now, no Ginger in site. Did he suspect anything? Fears are that he may be somewhere suffering or that perhaps foxes got him, him having a disadvantage with that eye. Oh woe, so much worry over the poor little mite. Everyone here knows him but no one has seen him for a few days. Hope he comes back soon, bless him. Love Susan

Susannah, so sorry about little Mabel, and I agree, this forum has been very supportive to me especially with my Tandy's initial litter tray problem, and not a place to criticise. Deric would not like that at all. I've been grateful for all the responses and comments on my problems, albeit much smaller ones than yours. All the best - Jocelyn

Susannah, well said, I agree with you totally. We may not always agree with somebody's decision or handling, but it is entirely wrong to criticise it. It isn't as though Diana hadn't cared or put in an effort. She has been through a tough time and every one of us has our limits. Who knows what was going through little Mabel's head, perhaps she had a problem accepting the other two cats in the home and if she is placed into a loving home as an only cat, perhaps things will be different. No, we shouldn't criticise Diana, but applaud her for her efforts and support her in her sad loss. Greetings to everyone, Susan

Dear all, Please lets not turn this into a forum that attacks others for their choice of words or decisions. This has always been a place where we support each other with gentle humour and gentle advice because you know until you have walked a mile in someone elses shoes you don't understand how it truly is. Love to all especially Deric and Aileen.

Liam, I know you mean well, but if you read Diana's post again, you'll better understand that she HAD a litter box inside, but the kitty wasn't using it. She went through a lot with and for little Mabel, but although she loved her very much, she had to part with her. It's very sad, but it happens sometimes. Think how horrible it would have been if she just decided to toss her out into the street, like some terrible people do, but no, she did the right thing.

Diana, did you just use the word antibiotic automatically? If anyone gave you antibiotics no wonder you couldn't shake it. Giardia is a parasite and needs anti-parasitics.

I can not understand why you would not have a litter box in your house. The poor cat must have been so confused about where to go to the toilet. Cats are a very clean animal and if she was in the house for a long period of time she would need a litter box. It is cruel not to have one for her indoors. If you want a cat you should be prepared to have a litter box in your house. As for her going on the stairs she probably liked the texture of your carpet to the litter you were using. The thing is to find a litter that she liked using. There are so many of them out there. Also where she was going to the toilet make sure it is cleaned very well to make sure her scent is removed so she would not keep doing it in the one spot

Thanks Susuan - it's good to know you understand. Actually it wasn't so much the fact of just having the litter box indoors, but the fact that despite us ensuring it was kept scrupulously clean for her, she would simply take flight and do her jobs at the end of the landing for no apparent reason. We couldn't put up with that any longer, especially when there was no apparent reason for her doing this. Hope everybody is well despite the biting cold weather outside. Love to all, Diana - Southampton xx
