Book Review By Ashley Abbott
Notorious by Katherine Sutcliffe

Lord Jason Batson, better known as the notorious British spy "Cobra" has a hard mission forced upon him by blackmail. He must assasinate Lord Fontaine (suspected of turning traitor and helping the East Indian Government) or he'll never be able to see the daughter he just found out he had. It's a difficult mission for many reasons. He was friends with Lord Fontaine years back and naturally does not wish to betray him. However, after finding out he has a young child, he agrees to do it. Jason tracks down Lord Fontaine's only blood relative, Lady Destiny, who still resides in England. Presuming Destiny has information that could help him get to her father, Jason meets with her, letting her presume him to be nothing more than a local peasant.

Unfortunately for Jason's clarity of mind, he finds himself attracted to the young widow. One day while on one of their impromptu meetings in the woods, lust gets the better of him and he discovers that she has kept a secret from him. He had taken a virgin. Angry at being decieved, he tells her that he is after her father. Hurt that Jason does not love her, Destiny flees. A short time later Jason realizes that Destiny may be in danger, and he lures her onto his ship to go to India by disguising himself as a battered old sea captin. On the ship, Destiny mourns her broken heart - but is kept company by her aunt who ran with her and a young child (Jason's). Matters are made worse with the crew, who are upset at having women aboard, when Destiny discovers she is pregnant.

Jason reavels himself to Destiny and trys to win her heart again. Regretably, Britian has heard that Jason's heart is weakening and they send a spy who will have no qualms about killing Lord Fontaine or Destiny - Jason's brother! As they get closer to India Destiny and Jason's lives are put in grave peril, and at one port Destiny is even kidnapped by Jason's brother. Jason has to find Destiny and the truth about her father (he still has trouble believing Lord Fontaine turned traitor).
