Brian's Winter by Gary Paulsen

In the book Brian's Winter, Brian is left alone in the Canadian wilderness with few things found on the plane from the previous plane crash in Hatchet. Brian is left to catch fish alone in deadly winter, make his own snowshoes using wood, and create a mediocure living society. Brian struggles to keep warm throughout the book in the cold wilderness. He misses his parents, and hears things at night... will Brian be rescued, or will he stay in the forest for the rest of his life?
When in the book Hatchet, Brian was stranded in the wilderness with little but his hatchet. Brian is rescued at the end of summer in Hatchet, but what if he wasn't? What if he had to face his deadliest enemy- winter?
In Brian's Winter, Brian discovers and lives throught the many elements of the cold, frigid, Winter. He encouters foxes, bears, mooses, and especially rabbits, whom he kills to stay alive.
