A ficticious virus that has a high probability of becoming a reality is created by a biotech company in hopes of discovering a cure for it before it infects the entire world. Upon discovering that the company plans to purposely infect the world's population with the virus once the cure has been developed, the woman developer, Dr. Elaine Wilkes, steals the program for creating it. This triggers the chase to hunt her down and get back the secret.
Meanwhile, due to a series of events in the tropics, this virus actually does appear and begins to infect the entire world wiping out large areas of the population. Elaine flees to Seattle, WA where she meets Lieutenant Paris whose wife is in a coma due to an infection she got as the result of a tainted food she ate as the result of a serial poisener. Paris believes her seemingly far fetched story of the virus and the two of them are in a race to save their lives and keep the virus information discs out of the hands of the biotech company who owns them. | ||
