Book Review By Jody T. Bixby
Juno & Juliet by Julian Gough

This is a tale of Irish twins, Juno and Juliet Taylor, coming of age and going away to Galway to university. Beautiful and intelligent twin sisters ready to learn about life and love. They come from an average, loving family and go through much of the same problems with freedom and being away on their own for the first time that many of us do. Juliet speaks to the readers and thinks through ideas and self-discovery on a higher level and with a keener eye. She is a twin but believes her sister to be the pretty one and even more intelligent and charming. This look at undeveloped self-confidence is entirely believable as it takes place during the teen years.

There are innocent flirtations and a little sexual experience, even a few drugs thrown into the story line. (This doesn't happen at college where one might expect but when they go home for Christmas break.) There is a stalker type person that rambles after one twin, then the other throughout the book. We know he is watching them because he relays information through letters that leave no doubt. The Taylor twins never really feel the need to inform their family about their stalker! Juno becomes involved in the unique world of theatre through friends and towards the end of this novel are the most action-filled scenes, when the small mystery is unraveled along with the opening of the play.
