Book Review By Dana Samson
My Childhood in Nazi Germany by Ilse Koehn

In 1935, at the eve of the second world war, Ilse Koehn was 6 years old and was living with her parents in Berlin. Her family did not approve the war politics of Hitler. Her father's parents are Jews, so her parents decide to divorce in order to protect her. As the oppression against the Jews is growing every year, she goes to live with her mother and her family.
Than, she is evacuated to a young Hitlerism camp where she has to get used with the hard life and military regime. When she finally gets the chance to go back to Berlin, her life is very difficult because of the war and the continuous bombardments.
When the war is over, the ending is a happy one for Ilse as her family gets back together, but, unfortunately, this was not the case for many others.
