In 1942, Jean Claude Moscovici is a 6 years old Jew boy who lives in the country together with his sister, mother and father, who is a doctor. One day, his family is arrested and separated simply because they were Jews. Happily, their mother manages to escape and flees into the night, thinking that her children are safe. First, they are given to the neighbors, but then they are let to a prison and finally at the Drancy camp.
Drancy was a transit camp where the Nazis occupation kept the Jews before sending them to the concentration camps. Jean's sister suffers from malnutrition and is very sick. With the help of their uncle, the children are sent to an association who took care of the Jew children who had French nationality. They were pretty lucky as they found their mother here and they have been living in clandestinely for a few month. It's the liberation that brings them the freedom and the possibility to go back home, but they will never see their father again. Only his youngest uncle returned; he was one of the rare survivors of Auschwitz, also known as Pitchipoi. | ||
