Book Review By L. Watson
Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase

Daphne Pembroke is in Cairo to study hieroglyphics. Because it is the Regency era when women scholars were unheard of, everyone thinks her brother, Miles, is the scholar, but it is the widowed Daphne who is the real brains. When Miles gets kidnapped, Daphne cannot get any help from the British Consulate so must rescue him herself. The only assistance she can find is from the handsome aristocrat, Rupert Carsington. The two set out to find Miles.

Daphne tells Rupert that she is the brains and he is the brawn. Rupert cheerfully allows Daphne to underestimate his intelligence while he fights the evergrowing lust he feels for Daphne. To keep Daphne's hopes up during their search for Miles, Rupert keeps annoying Daphne since she is unlikely to cry when she is irritated with him. She thinks he is impossible and wishes she did not find him so attractive. The two create sparks as they verbally duel. Their journey to rescue Miles creates chuckles for the reader and the romance grows as the two draw closer together.
