Guardian Angel by Julie Garwood

The Marquess of Cainewood aka Caine is searching for his brother's murderer, the legendary pirate Pagan. In order to provoke Pagan to appear, Caine pretends to be the pirate himself. But instead of catching the criminal, he is "caught" by a beautiful and mysterious redhead named Jade. She tells him a wild a story about men trying to kill her and being a true gentleman, Caine offers her his protection. Soon, Caine realizes that are men chasing after her and brings her to his residential home to keep her safe. While Jade is recovering from a wound she obtains during their escape from London, Caine gets to know her better and of course falls in love with her. He seduces her into his bed and she in turn becomes a willing participant, but she refuses to allow herself to fall in love with him in fear of him leaving her one day, just like her uncle and brother had. Caine doesn't care though. He vows that Jade will return his love and be his wife and takes a lot of measure to fulfill his vow. Later, Pagan is finally revealed and the truth leads them to more danger.
