Book Review By Rachel
Enslaved by Virginia Henley

Lady Diana Davenport was born into the era where 17th century Englishmen. She dreams of real men with real strength and real bodies. She is well-read, intelligent, beautiful and yearning to live her life from under the watchful eye of her Aunt Prudence and Uncle Richard. She gets her chance one fateful day as she is visiting Peter Hardwick, whose brother Mark is the Earl of Bath, at his home in the town of Bath. While perusing an antique shop, she tries on an ancient Roman helmet that was excavated in the town. She is immediately transported back in time to the year 61AD to Aquae Sulis, as Bath was known to the Romans.

The powerful general, Marcus Magnus, thinks she is a Druid spy when he sees her strange dress. He has lustful feelings for her and makes Diana his slave and orders him to his bed. Diana, however, uses her feminine power to ensnare the slavemaster and they fall powerfully in love.

Marcus is called to Rome by the depraved emperor Nero to discuss his leadership position in Britannia. It is here that Marcus' brother, Petrius, kills his father and has Diana blamed. With Nero's word, she is to be put to death in the Circus Maximus. It is there, at the most terrifying moment of her life, that she is brought back to her own time in England and comes face to face with the man she loved in 61AD, who has now taken the form of Mark Hardwick, Earl of Bath. Their love had survived centuries, but it is now, in their present day that they face perilous obstacles to their love.
