Morgan recognizes her as Vivian Duvall, a famous courtesan, who snubbed him then embaressed him by telling everyone. He sees that someone tried to kill her. Obsessed with the beautiful woman, Morgan brings Vivian to his home to recover.

They soon realize she has amnesia and can remember nothing of her past, neither her own name nor her profession, which seems to disgust her when Morgan tells her. Morgan lies to her and tells her that he is her lover. During the day he tries to solve the would be murder but at night, satisfies his lust for Vivian by taking her to his bed.

But Vivian does not turn out to be the hardened prostitute that Morgan expected. She is sweet, kind and caring towards him. Moran is confused about why Vivian seems so different.
