The unnamed narrator takes the reader through a disturbing and compelling journey of her abusive past and her current struggles. The narrator experienced sexual, physical and mental abuse from her father in her childhood; now she wants answers; answers; retribution; and prevention. The breakup of a relationship makes her snap. Why does life go in cycles? Why is it the people who are supposed to love you that damage you the most? The narrator looks for the answer to some of these questions in the work of de Sade. De Sade writes as the ultimate perpetrator of abuse and violence, as such the narrator uses the work of de Sade to enter the mind of the abuser and answer some of those questions. She argues that Sade is nothing but an 18th century snuff writer and as such should be banned, as the equivalant today would be people who sex traffic children for torture and snuff videos.
The narrator wants to rescue the children, all the children who haven't yet been sexually abused, who haven't yet been born but who will be sexually abused. | ||
