The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

Christopher Boone is an autistic teenager. His parents have struggled with it for many years, and his autism eventually led to his parents' divorce. Now, a few years down the track, Christopher is on a mission. After discovering his neighbour's dog dead on their front lawn, he is determined to track down the killer. But as Christopher investigates, he ends up uncovering other mysteries; secrets he was never intended to unearth about his family.

In the end, Christopher discovers Wellington's unlikely killer; his own father. Horrified at his father's viciousness, Christopher flees in fear of being murdered. He journeys to London on his own, to live with his estranged mother, whom Christopher had thought was dead.
