Book Review By Alan J. Bishop
A Summer of Discontent - Chronicles of Matthew Bartholomew 8 by Susanna Gregory

In Cambridge, 1354, and a steward called Glovere is found dead on the banks of the river Ouse, days after the Bishop of Ely publically threatened the malicious gossip with just such a fate. The Bishop summons the senior proctor Brother Michael to clear his name. He, in turn, recruits Doctor Matthew Bartholomew. They discover that Golvere didn't drown because he was drunk - someone had carefully and precisely stabbed him in the back of the neck! When two more locals, suspected of suicide are found dead in the same way, Doctor Bartholomew and Brother Michael realise they are on the hunt for a cold-blooded killer.

While being wary of University and City politics (which is never far away), the good doctor wants to stop the murders and bring the killer to justice.
