| Don is a naive, sensitive man who lives in a psychiatric boarding home and immediately falls in love with a beautiful woman, Ariel, who has just moved in. They are attracted to each other and soon fool the nurses and go to the pub where Don asks Ariel why she's off her meds. Ariel answers that she doesn't take them, and Don reluctantly refuses to rat on her. The next day the moody, bored Ariel persuades Don into going to her grandmother's, who lives nearby, and again they go to a pub. This time Ariel becomes delusional, thinking she's Diana Ross by getting up and singing. Both are kicked out of the pub and sent back to the boarding home. However, on a field trip and outing the following day Ariel suffers a nervous breakdown after believing a policeman was her old boyfriend riding her horse. When she is taken to the psychiatric ward, Don breaks down an ends up in the same hospital as Ariel. Don tries to spend time with Ariel but Ariel is either put in seclusion or is ignoring him. Don is hurt and when he finds out about a past love of Ariel's he worries that he may lose her. | ||
