After an unexplained glimpse into the future by Section 9, Gordon Greer is brought out of forced retirement and recruited for a desperate mission to save the Earth from an unexplained destruction. Complicating matters further are the closely hidden secret of time travel and the ultimate motives of Section 9. With only two weeks left before the end of the world, Greer and a young operative are sent into the past by Section 9 to find the one person who can help unravel the mystery and escape disaster. Robert Maryk, a 20th Century man living in 1881, is their last link to a secret Project named Timepiece. From prior experiences, he held no love for Section 9. In his possession, an advanced temporal vessel known as a S.T.O.R.M.; the only vessel that would allow them to get close enough to the moment of Earth's destruction to investigate and prevent the planet's extinction. After Maryk's help is enlisted, they return to the future and formulate a plan. Maryk and Section 9 enter into a fragile truce as others with their own agendas are recruited for the mission. Journeying into the immediate future, Greer and his team are handed numerous reverses as their enemies appear, some hidden and some not. Unsuccessful at stopping the Earth's destruction on their first attempt, they make matters worse and put all of human history in jeopardy. Traveling extensively through time and to a parallel universe, they endeavor to save the planet and all of humanity. | ||
