Daffodil Landry is the secret columnist of the Dear Love Doctor newspaper column. After answering a particular letter Hunter James, the man whom it was about, who she diagnosed as "terminal", comes to the paper to try to find out who this woman is. Instead he runs into who he believes is Daffodil, whom he'd only seen across a room before and wanted to meet, she sets up a coffee date with him for after she is through with work. When Jonquil, Daffodil's twin sister, tells her she set up a coffee date for her; Daffy is none to pleased but does go. Hunter and Daffy continue to see each other after that first 'blind date' and fall in love. After Daffy finds out the reason they met was because he was searching for the Love Doctor and Hunter asks her to marry him she says 'no' because of her feelings and fears of not being able to love completely and because he does not know she is the love doctor. Hunter must convince her that their love will last and that together they can conquer her fears.
