An alien message has arrived on a energy-hungry Earth, where science is seen as the main cause of the energy crisis.
After much discussion a Earth Consortium is made to prepare for the alien arrival at Earth, yet only the top posts in the Consortium know about the alien message, the rest of the population think it is a worldwide attempt to generate more energy and create more scientists. Consortium members are not sure of the intentions of the aliens (who come from Cassiopea), they might be benevolent but could possibly be evil. So they decide to create a light-speed ship to meet them half-way to Earth. The global effort required to build the spaceship puts the Consortium in an uneasy position where it owes too much to other countries and does not know how to pay for them, except by sending their own representatives on the ship. The moment of encounter lingers as both crafts are ready for their rendezvous. | ||
