Defending His Own by Beverly Barton

Ashe and Deborah spent a passion filled night together eleven years ago, and when Deborah finds out she's pregnant, her father runs Ashe out of town before he learns about the baby. Now Ashe is back in town as Deborah's bodyguard, protecting her after she witnesses a murder. His son is being raised as Deborah's brother, and she is afraid Ashe will figure out the truth.

Before the trial, the threats are really just nuisances, but after the trial they begin turning deadly. Ashe and Deborah are forced closer together, and they fall in love again, and once more become lovers.

When Deborah finally works up the nerve to tell Ashe the truth about their son, Ashe is furious and goes off to be alone for awhile. When he returns home, Allen tells him his other bodyguard has been shot and Deborah has been kidnapped. Ashe must find her before it is too late.
