Chloe Underwood lives in Paris, works as a children's book translator and shares a tiny flat with Sylvia, a translator from the UK. Comparing herself with Sylvia, who has a comparitively glamourous life - Chloe tells herself her life needs a little sex and violence.
Nothing in Chloe's life prepares her for the fullfilment of that wish. Sylvia arrives at the flat one day begging Chloe to step into a weekend gig she has as a translator for a group of business people. Reluctantly Chloe accepts, lets Sylvia dress and make her up to look a bit more glamorous than everyday Chloe and pack her into a cab and send her off into the French country side. She finds herself in the midst of an international group of business people professing to be puveyors of meat and produce. But something is very wrong starting from the time the Middle Eastern host tries to send Chloe home the minute she arrives to the very scary and sexy vibes she gets from the attractive but cold Batian Toussaint. When she realizes what is really being sold are illegal arms she finds herself entrusting her life to a cold blooded killer, as they make a dash for life. But Chloe learns that life is cheap to a man that kills on command and Bastian is a man who does not believe he is capable of love. As bodies pile up in their wake Chloe finds herself falling for him. | ||
