Firebombers Incorporated by Michael Archer

Firebombers Incorporated is a dramatic novel that tells the story of a billionaire entrepreneur who creates a high-tech wildland firefighting company after he loses his family in a forest fire. Spectacular wildland and suburban firefighting is conducted by this large, privately-owned firefighting organization which uses leading-edge technology to perform pinpoint airstrikes, day or night.

Firebombers Incorporated begins by recounting the love billionaire Joe Talon has for his family. However, his idyllic life is soon shattered when his wife, daughter, and unborn son are killed in a forest fire. Drinking to forget his grief, Joe soon sinks into a drunken stupor and has to be institutionalized. As part of his recovery therapy, he's teamed up with an ex-firefighter pilot, Pieter Van Vrees, who also became an alcoholic when his wife died of cancer. As Pieter relates the thrill of being an air-tanker pilot to Joe over dinners they share, an idea begins to form in Joe's mind about a firefighting force unlike anything ever conceived before.

Joe's firefighters set to their task with a vengeance, fulfilling his dreams of saving others from the loss of life and property that so devastated him, putting into practice his motto of “Never again!” By the end of their first year in operation, Firebombers Incorporated has earned a sterling reputation as a hard-hitting, highly-mobile firefighting force throughout the western U.S. But their greatest challenge awaits - a massive brushfire that threatens to destroy a foothill community east of Los Angeles and the residents trapped inside it.
