Tidings of Great Joy by Sandra Brown

When architect Ria Lavender meets sexy politician Taylor MacKensie at a Christmas Eve party the last thing on her mind is a one night stand. After exchanging flirty banter with Taylor and consuming a bottle of champagne, Ria ends up leaving the party on Taylor's arm. One kiss leads to another, ultimately ending in a night of lovemaking. Ria is mortified by her behavior since she has never had a one night stand before. She can't believe she betrayed her morals in such a manner, particularly since Taylor slinks away when morning comes without a word.

Eight weeks later Ria is standing on Taylor's doorstep announcing that she is pregant and that he is the father. Shocked to the core, Mayor-Elect Taylor can't believe that a practical stranger is carrying his child. After chiding Ria about not using protection (she counters by stating that he didn't use any either) and asking her whether or not he was the only candidate for fatherhood, Taylor comes to his senses and accepts responsibility. When Ria demands marriage due to her own past stigma as an illegitimate child Taylor informs her that he had already decided to marry her until after the child is born. Taylor has his own personal reasons for the marriage. He realizes that any hint of impropriety could derail his status as Mayor Elect. Ria and Taylor reach a bargain by which they will marry to legitimize the baby then annul the marriage after Taylor is sworn in as Mayor.

Although Taylor and Ria have decided to have a sexless marriage, they cannot resist the sizzling attraction that pulses between them. They have a marathon sex session and realize that they truly have chemistry. Sadly, Ria suffers a miscarriage, which devastates the couple.   .Now, with no baby, Ria feels her days are numbered as Taylor's wife. How can Ria show Taylor that they are love buddies and that their future lies together?
