Island of Flowers by Nora Roberts

Laine Simmons moved to France with her mother fifteen years ago. She thought her father abandoned her, but after her mother died she discovered where he lived, and decided to visit him. She is met by his partner, Dillon O'Brian, who thinks she is after her father's money. She learns that her father has been sending her money for years, and presents too, but that her mother took them all.

Despite the fact that Dillon does not trust her, Laine finds herself falling in love with him. She and her father begin to become closer again. But Orchid, a woman who is in love with Dillon, conviences Dillon that Laine and a jeweler are having an affair. Laine is hurt, and flies back to France. Dillon comes to France to win her back.
