In 1892-93 the Fall River, Massachusetts spinster became a dubious celebrity after dispatching her father and stepmother with a hatchet, being acquitted of the crime, and leading a long life of luxury off of the inheritance. Aileen Carol Wuornos killed seven men while working as a prostitute in the South becoming America's first female serial killer. Wuornos would shoot her victims before stealing their money and valuable possessions, along with the car.
