Anyone's Son by Roberta Roesch

Harry de La Roche Jr. is the oldest of 3 sons being raised in the quiet, 'white picket fence' community of Montvale, New Jersey. With an overbearing father and being the target of bullies and continual teasing throughout his childhood and into his teen years; Harry struggles for acceptance for being 'different' all through High School.

Trying to be just a 'regular' kid, Harry becomes involved in fast cars, smoking pot, and drinking just as his family decides he should attend Military College at The Citadel. Harry's feelings of worthlessness continue as he is abused and ridiculed once again at The Citadel, leading Harry to the decision to face his father with the news that he is leaving The Citadel after the de La Roches' Thanksgiving weekend together.

After being pulled over for running a stop sign as he was seen speeding out of town, Harry tells the Police Officer who pulled him over that he had just found his parents and younger brother dead, and his other brother missing. The subsequent crime scene search would lead to Harry's being charged with the crimes and facing the battle to clear his name.
