Book Review By Tracey Ray
Contagion by Robin Cook

Dr. John Stapelton, New York's Medical Examiner, faces the biggest potential plague scare in decades. A deadly but rare flu begins to slowly kill seemingly healthy individuals. John, having already lost his opthalmology practice to a giant HMO, immediately suspects them of killing off patients who cost them a lot of money.

John begins to investigate anything that may give him the viruses point of origin. Because of this, someone tries to kill John. He does not relent. He finally finds the name of a person who ordered some plague virus and hunts them down.

This proves deadly for John as he is kidnapped and beaten. He is stunned, however, when he sees who has been behind this biological hazard. They have paid someone to kill John, to keep their secret from being revealed. His only hope is escape.
