The Silent Suitor by Elisabeth Fairchild

At the belated age of 24, the lovely Miss Sarah Wilkes embarks on her first season in the ton, and despite her blindness, becomes a huge success. Her kindness also gains her the admiration of Stewart Castleford, dubbed “Beauty,” who begins to court her. However, Sarah finds herself drawn to Ashley, Stewart's cousin, who is called “Beast.” Ashley finds himself falling in love with Sarah, but cannot honorably pursue her—for, long ago, Stewart and Ashley once courted the same woman, Sylvia DeValle, and have since promised never to again compete with each other over a woman. Then Sylvia DeValle, now a widow, seeks out Ashley's help in foiling a blackmailer, and Stewart starts showing signs of jealousy. Ashley suspects that Stewart still has feelings for Sylvia, but is still held to his vow as long as Stewart continues to court Sarah. Ashley tries to deny his feelings for Sarah even as he finds himself falling ever more deeply in love with her.
