Looking For Miracles by Lynn Bullock

pp. 254

Lori Harper needed a big miracle on Christmas Eve. She and her son, 5 year old Tyler was alone in their isolated mobile home. Her unborn baby had decided to join them. And the miracle came in the form of Mike Martin (fire department volunteer) who came with a truck and a dog dressed with reindeer antlers. He was wonderful with Tyler and so very gentle with her. The man was a God-sent and a very handsome one at that. For once she did not feel so alone after Gary; her husband (reformed drug-dealer) had died of automobile accident.

Mike felt very protective of Lori who looked fragile but managed to muster up Herculean strength to meet life's adversity. When he looked at Tyler, he saw himself when he was young and uncertain, dreaming of a fire he could not remember. Lori had no insurance and no income and Mike intended to do something about that. Mike and his mother, Gloria welcomed Lori and her two children into their home. Gloria offered her a position at their family property rental business. Mike offered her his good-nature humour that never failed to cheer her up and his friendship. He wished to offer more for lately he had the urge to run his hands through her hair or kiss the softness of the cheeks. It was getting harder to resist sweet Lori Harper.

Mike was there by her side when they discover someone had ransacked her home when she was at the hospital and authorities suspected Gary's death was not an accident. Someone out there wanted to hide the truth. In return, Lori gave him a lot. She taught him about laughter no matter how difficult or unkind life was, gave him God back into his once faithless heart and gave him inner peace for Lori had discovered Gloria was not his birth mother and tried to locate and reunite him and his elder brother.
