There And Now by Linda Lael Miller

After a painful divorce from her husband Ian, teacher Elisabeth McCartney leaves Seattle and heads to Pine River, Washington. As a child Elisabeth was sent to live with her Aunt Verity In Pine River after her mother passed away. Although Elisabeth has fond memories of Pine River she deeply misses her deceased aunt and her cousin Rue, who is crisscrossing the globe as a journalist. When Elisabeth arrives in Pine River she finds Aunt Verity's favorite antique necklace. Elisabeth decides to wear the necklace. Suddenly, Elisabeth starts hearing a child's voice in the house and the sound of music playing. Two elderly neighbors tell Elisabeth that a young girl named Trista Forten and her father died in Aunt Verity's house in the 1800s during a house fire. When Elisabeth stumbles through a threshhold in the house she is catapulted back in time to the 1800's. Elisabeth comes face to face with Trista Forten and her handsome father, Dr. Jonathan Fortner. Elisabeth feels an immediate romantic pull towards the handsome and charismatic man. Jonathan cannot believe that a beautiful woman has stumbled into his home wearing nothing more than an itty bitty t-shirt. What's more shocking to Jonathan is the fact that a stranger named Elisabeth is wearing his wife Barbara's necklace, one she never would have relinquished. Elisabeth is transported back to the future where she does research into the former inhabitants of Aunt Verity's house. Elisabeth looks into the newspaper archives and realizes that the house fire that killed Jonathan and Trista Fortner is occurring in a few days and that only she can stop the tragedy from unfolding.
