The Legend of Deathwalker - Drenai Tales 7 by David Gemmell

In another Drenai Saga book, Druss the Legend goes to a foreign city to be in an athletic competition, but some thugs paralyze another competitor who is Druss's friend. At the same time, a warrior of the Nadir, a fierce, tribalistic people, has come looking for gems that could save his race from the Gothir and have the power to heal. Druss goes with Talisman, the warrior, only to find that the Gothir have also set their eyes on the gems, and are sending an army to get them. And even he can rally the Nadir with Talisman, it turns out that obtaining the jewels could have terrible consequences for the Drenai and the world...
