High school guidance counselor Heather Gregory is shocked when she reaches out to Quinn Montgomery regarding his daughter Cynthia's troubles and meets major resistance. Quinn is a workaholic attorney and widower who doesn't let anyone inside his heart. When Heather is forced to break the news of Cynthia's pregnancy to Quinn, she realizes that he is a man of deep emotions beneath the gruff exterior. When Cynthia runs away Quinn is forced to turn to Heather for guidance. As Heather and Quinn work together to assist Cynthia with her problems, they give in to their blazing attraction and begin a relationship. But Quinn is still grieving over his wife's death and blaming himself for her loss.   Will Heather be able to break down Quinn's barriers and make a future with the man she loves?
