Part of a team of scientists in Zuran to protect the natural flora an fauna, Katrina ends up abandoned in the desert when she trys to escape the unwanted advances of her boss. She is captured by a band of outlaws, and the hero, Xander, has to fight another man in order to claim her for himself. Katrina is shocked and confused to realize that she is attracted to this dark and dangerous "outlaw" with the amber eyes. Passion and love begin to develop while Xander, who is actually an "undercover" sheikh, has to hide his true identity from Katrina in order to protect them both and his mission.

Eventually, in order to protect her from the other men, Xander is forced to "marry" Katrina. Although neither one plans on consummating the marriage, their mutual attraction gets out of hand and Xander is shocked to discover that Katrina is a virgin. Being a man of honor, Xander now feels he must marry Katrina for real when his mission is complete and they make it back to civilization.
