The Manning family is often referred to as "football's royal family" because three members of that family have played quarterback in the National Football League. Archie was a star quarterback at Ole Miss, and he was drafted second overall by the New Orleans Saints. His team never made it to the playoffs though. Archie finished his pro career with the Houston Oilers, who were even worse than the Saints. Archie's father committed suicide when Archie was 19 years old, and this obviously upset him.
Archie's son, Peyton, was a star quarterback at the University of Tennessee. He was the runner up for the Heismann Trophy his senior season, and was selected first overall by the Indianapolis Colts. Last season, he broke Dan Marino's single season passing touchdown record of 48, with 51 touchdown passes of his own. | ||
