The Savage Damsel and the Dwarf by Gerald Morris

Lynet lives in a castle with her sister and her uncle, where he is controlled by a knight who wants to marry her sister.   This knight kills everyone who tries to save her to prove his worth, so one day Lynet runs away to get help.   She finds a dwarf named Roger who directs her to Camelot where she asks for assistance.   King Arthur would be happy to, except she refuses to tell him her name, so all he will offer is a kitchen boy who also won't reveal his name.   Lynet is very disappointed and decides that there is no way the kitchen boy can help.   As they head back to her castle, they meet up with Roger, who joins them.   As they travel through the forests and across the rivers, they meet many knights, including the black knight, and the rose knight, who they have to kill in order to continue.   The kitchen boy proves himself again and again, and Lynet starts to like him.   They are very close to the castle when the kitchen boy gets a deep wound and they have to stop.   During that time, Roger goes to deliver a message to Lynet's sister and is captured.   He barely escapes and is able to take them to Lynet's castle, where he had to battle the Red Knight.
