Adrian Mole and the Weapons of Mass Destruction by Sue Townsend

Adrian Mole is a thirty something divorced father living in a small town in England called Leicester. He has two sons, one called william who lives in Africa with his mother, one who's called Glenn and is a soldier in the british army. This story is a fictional diary in which Adrian describes his life. He works in a book shop and dreams of becoming a writer.
While still obsessing in secret about his childhood sweetheart, Pandora (a successfull politician) he starts dating a very eccentric woman called Marigold Flowers, who lives with her parents and collect doll's houses. At first he is enchanted with her, but soon he wants to call the relationship off.¨This turns out to be difficult, as she is quite good in emotional blackmail. Meanwhile, Britain gets involved in the war in Iraq. Adrian thinks that Britain's envolvement is necessary, but it turns out that his son Glenn is being sent to Iraq.
