| Anne Edwards examines the life of Judy Garland from when she first starting performing at the age of two until her death before a performance when she was in her forties. Throughout her life Garland had a hard time with her demanding career when she first started appearing in films, and her ambitious mother who worked endlessly to get her youngest daughter into Hollywood studios.
Garland's talent at acting and singing plunged her into the world of show business, and its dangers. She became addicted to pills when she was fourteen and had spent a relatively short time in a mental insitution at twenty five. She had been divorced four times; her only successful marriage being her last one before her death. She was abused by her second husband and slave-driven by film directors but her audiences were always entranced by her voice. Garland had maintained a love-hate relationship with the public and the press but even after her death she was still considered as a legend. | ||
