Robbie is an 11-year-old boy growing up in 1950's Ireland surrounded by an eccentric but loving family and plenty of friends.
During a trip to a local football match, Robbie is caught up in a surging crowd and suffers a serious head injury. After his near-death experience Robbie believes he has the power to heal and aims to cure those who need his help. When he is sent away to a children's hospital he finds he has a great opportunity to test his 'gift' and his lovable and caring character earn him a great many friends. Upon his return from hospital Robbie's powers are put to the ultimate test when he discovers his father in bed suffering from cancer.
