Dr. Franklin's Island by Ann Halam

Semirah Garson and fifty other young teenagers are the winners of an environmentalist contest. After a traumatic plane crash in the ocean, Semi, Arnie, and Miranda are the three only survivors. Taking refuge on an island, they do everything they can to survive on their own. However, a dark secret rests in the island. Dr. Franklin, a genius but mad scientist makes the very place a giant research facility.
Alone and frightened, the three are captured by his men and forced to undergo horrifying experiments for genetic engineering. With no choice, the terror-stricken teenagers are turned into creatures as a result of Dr. Franklin's efforts.
