Fire and Ice: Warriors # 2 by Erin Hunter

Four clans of wild cats share the forest according to laws laid down by their ancestor clans. Fireheart has become a warrior and received his warrior name. ThunderClan has accepted him as one of their own. But Fireheart is worried. He knows that Tigerclaw, ThunderClan's deputy, is a traitor. He secretly arranged for the murder of the former deputy, Redtail, so that he could become deputy. Fireheart wants to warn the clan leader Bluestar, but when he tells her, she says his information must be wrong and that Tigerclaw would never do something like that. Then at the monthly gathering of the four forest clans, they learn that WindClan has been forced to leave the forest. Bluestar is worried because the ancestor cats have decreed that there must be four clans in the forest. She sends Fireheart and his best friend, Graystripe, to find WindClan and bring them home. They finally find WindClan living in tunnels near the freeway. Most of the cats are thin and weak from the poor living conditions. They agree to return home, but the journey is not easy and they must cross a section of RiverClan's territory to reach home. Some RiverClan cats catch them and they get into a fight. So RiverClan sides with ShadowClan against ThunderClan and WindClan. Tensions are running high so Fireheart decides to visit his sister, Princess, at her humans home. She is excited to see him and know that he is doing well in his new forest life. She has just given birth to some kittens and she wants Fireheart to take one to his clan so that he will have a family member in his clan. Fireheart is touched so he brings the little white kitten home. At first the other cats are upset, they had a hard enough time accepting Fireheart because of his connections to humans. Eventually the decide to allow his nephew to stay and he is named Cloudpaw. Even though Fireheart is excited to have Cloudpaw in his clan, tensions are still running high and it looks like a battle is inevitable.
