Book Review By Lisa Elkins
Outbreak by Robin Cook

Dr. Marissa Blumenthal is working at the CDC in the virology department. She is soon faced with a case of Ebola. She goes to the site of the outbreak, and tries to piece together how the epidemic started. Her job is complicated by the men in her life. Tad also works at the CDC, and they have been casually dating for a while. Marissa manipulates him into sneaking her in to the maximum containment facility so that she can investigate the epidemic further. Dr.Dubcheck is her supervisor, who makes a pass at her and is then rejected by her. This puts a serious strain on their working relationship. And then there is Roger, the nice doctor that she wishes she was attracted to. He is the one that she trusts as more and more outbreaks pop up. Marissa flies around the country, trying to solve the puzzle of the source of the Ebola. She soon learns that she is being followed, and is attacked in her own home. As she runs from her pursuers, who are trying to silence her suspicions and the evidence that she finds, she must also pit herself against a powerful enemy that is releasing Ebola on an unsuspecting population.
